Sienna judging Robin Hood tax video competition
Director Richard Curtis, who will be judging the competition with actress Sienna Miller, has said “We are looking for original and creative films that sell the idea of the Robin Hood Tax in new and exciting ways.” Films will also be judged on their ability to inspire others to sign up to the campaign, as well as the number of views they receive.
Competition closes on 31st August 2010. Entries from outside the UK are accepted. To find out more or to see the latest entries go to:
Make a short film (60-90secs) about the Robin Hood Tax and you could win a master class with film legend Richard Curtis, a top spot on YouTube and a bundle of camera equipment.
It’s really easy to enter: we’re looking for films that tell the audience about The Robin Hood Tax in an interesting and innovative way.
The Robin Hood Tax is a tiny tax on banks that would give billions to tackle poverty and climate change, here and abroad. The public have bailed out the banks to the tune of £20 trillion in total. In the UK alone the bailout cost £31,250 per person. Isn’t it now time society was paid back?
Our message to governments is clear: “Tax the banks, not the people.”
We think the Robin Hood Tax could be the most important idea of this generation. What do you think?
Sienna Miller donates designer gear to the Imagine charity auction
We’ve been desperate to rifle of been desperate to rifle through Sienna Miller’s wardrobe for years.. now we can… Sienna has donated designer gear to the Imagine auction to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
Judi Dench has given the suit she wore in Casino Royale. She said: “I hope everyone has fun bidding on the lovely clothes.”
Rachel Bilson: "I want a style career like Sienna Miller"
Rachel Bilson has revealed she wants to branch out into fashion, just like her idol Sienna Miller.
Having already worked on a fashion range for DKNY, the O.C star said she would like to go down the same path as the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra star.
Bilson, 28, told InStyle magazine:‘I would love to do some more designing, but only if I could do it properly. I think Sienna Miller’s clothing line with her sister, Twenty8Twelve, is really clever and the Olsen twins make great clothes … They are examples of talented people who have done it right. Some people just put their name on stuff, but those guys are authentic and know what they are doing because they have good taste. That’s the difference.’
She added that although she loves to wear clothes that are less mainstream, she also has a penchant for classic pieces. ‘I love finding stuff that is a little less known, you know? But then there are the classics. I am a Chanel girl until I die. I have a real Chanel wedding dress wish. I guess a girl can dream.’
Sienna to star in The Trials of Cate McCullough?
IMDB.com is listing Sienna as attached to star in a new movie, The Trials of Cate McCullough. Kate Beckinsale is also attached to star, with Karen Concrieff to direct. The synopsis reads:
A former hotshot lawyer, now in recovery and estranged from her family, in order to be reinstated at the bar and recover custody of her daughter, must take on the appeal of a woman wrongfully convicted of murder.
Stephen Sommers to Direct ‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel
“G.I. Joe” director Stephen Sommers will return to direct Paramount’s sequel, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
There had been some doubts about whether Sommers would be brought back into the “Joe” fold, as there were conflicting reports across the blogosphere last summer that there had been some tension between Sommers and the studio, but the alleged bad blood appears to have been resolved.
Channing Tatum is expected to reprise his role as Capt. Duke Hauser in the sequel, which is still in development at Paramount.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Collider reported earlier this year that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (“Zombieland”) were hired to write the sequel, and I’m told that the studio is happy with the draft they turned in.
Sommers will likely produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
“G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” grossed more than $300 million worldwide last year on a reported production budget of $175 million, not including prints and advertising.
Sommers previously directed “The Mummy” and “Van Helsing,” and he has a “Tarzan” movie in development at Warner Bros.
Sommers is represented by WME.Sneider also reports Channing Tatum is expected to reprise his role as Capt. Duke Hauser in the sequel, but doesn’t mention the rest of the cast which includes Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agabaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Arnold Vosloo, Dennis Quaid, Christopher Eccleston and Byung-hun Lee. One would assume everyone involved signed a contract for a sequel should one get made so I wouldn’t expect much re-casting, if any, to be taking place.
Sienna supports Stop Sex Trafficking Campaign
Susan Sarandon is adding star power to The Body Shop’s latest installment of its Stop Sex Trafficking Campaign.
The retailer will launch a petition drive in the United States today to spread awareness and support for legislation that would help end the sex trafficking of children and young people worldwide. Stores will urge visitors to sign the petition, and a Web site link will allow anyone to sign electronically.
Uma Thurman, Yoko Ono, and Sienna Miller have also signed the petition and created self-drawn hand traces for colorful signage that will go up in stores.
In addition, The Body Shop will continue to donate proceeds from their popular Soft Hands, Kind Heart Hand Cream and Bag for Life products to ECPAT (End Child Prostitution and Trafficking) and the Somaly Mam Foundation, for both of which they’ve already raised over $1.5 million.
The Millers Tale
SIENNA AND SAVANNAH MILLER have made a film of their latest collection. The designer sisters took their autumn/winter 2010-11 designs to Hilles – the Gloucestershire home of Isabella and Detmar Blow where Alexander McQueen was known to find great inspiration – to shoot an incredibly chic fashion film directed by Angelo Penetta and starring Sienna herself alongside Sara Blomqvist.
“We wanted to capture our new season on film to get a real feel for the collection and Hilles provided the perfect backdrop for us,” Sienna told us. “The rich tapestries, velvets and eclectic style of the house completely reflect the elements of our autumn/winter collection. I loved filming in every room.”
With fashion film increasingly becoming recognised as an artistic medium in its own right, the Miller girls – who launched their Twenty8Twelve collection in February last year – are never far off trend.
“We felt moving image could capture the essence of the message with more clarity,” said Savannah. “We feel it makes the story come alive and it was amazing to work with Angelo.”

Sienna Miller’s sister: I won’t make dress for her wedding to Jude Law
Sienna Miller is rumoured to be marrying Jude Law this summer, but her sister, Savannah, a fashion designer, does not expect to be asked to create the bridal gown.
“There will be a lot of competition from the likes of Galliano and other designers, so I doubt I’ll be making her dress,” says Savannah, 31.
Sienna, 28, broke off her engagement to Law, 37, in 2006 after the actor admitted sleeping with Daisy Wright, his children’s nanny.
Last year, Savannah was keen to rubbish (correct) reports that the pair had been reunited after Law fathered a daughter, Sophia, from a brief relationship with Samantha Burke, a model and aspiring actress.
“I think that would be a completely ridiculous assumption considering the way that man has conducted himself recently,” she told Mandrake. “That’s all I’m saying.”
Happily, they are all now friends. “We spent two weeks in Puglia in southern Italy and swam, cooked and chilled out together,” Savannah says of her recent holiday with Law and his children. “I hardly ever go away but that holiday made me realise that family and your loved ones are what’s important.”
